Nettle Urtica dioica L. belongs to the Urticaceae family, it is commonly present over entire Poland. The herb of nettle is rich in mineral components mainly silica, calcium, iron, flavonoids, organic acids (e.g. formic, acetic acid) and a large number of vitamins (A, B2, B5, C, E and K). The raw material presents traditional use as a diuretic in urinary tract inflammations, in dermal and rheumatic conditions (e.g. gout), as well as urolithiasis. In cosmetics, the herb of nettle is used to strengthen damaged and greasy hair, as well as to wash acne complexion.
Willowherb Epilobiumparviflorum Schreb. belongs to the Oenotheraceae willowherb family, it is commonly found in Poland. The herb of willowherb Epilobii herba is the medicinal raw material, containing terpenes (ursolic acid), phytosterols, tannins, flavonoids (quercitrin, quercetin), phenolic acids. Willowherb products from the herb are traditionally used in benign prostatic hypertrophy in order to alleviate the symptoms from the lower urinary system, such as difficulty urinating or frequent need to urinate. The herb of willowherb should be used after a physician would exclude severe conditions.
Valerian Valeriana officinalis L. belongs to the Valerianaceaevalerian family, it is one of four most frequently cultivated medicinal plants in Poland. Underground parts of the plant valerian root Valerianae radix constitute a herbal raw material. The herbal raw material contains essential oil, sesquiterpene acids, including valerenic acid, and tannins. The root of valerian has a long history and many proofs of efficiency of actions it has established medical use status in terms of reducing mild nervous stress conditions and sleep disorders. Moreover, it is considered to have a comprehensive effect in case of anxiety-related cardiac and gastric functionality disorders. It is frequently combined with other raw materials with similar use lemon balm, hop, and Passiflora.

Dog rose fruit products present nutritional and strengthening, antiscorbutic, diuretic, and general detoxicating properties. The extracts are safe for children and pregnant women. In addition, dog rose seed oil is remarkably valuable, as it is extensively used in cosmetics.
Hop (Humuluslupulus L.) belongs to the Cannabaceae family, it is found in Poland as a wild plant, and is also grown to meet the needs of the pharmaceutical and food industry. Medicinal raw material included female inflorescence, commonly called as hops. The material contains essential oil (which comprises humulene as the main ingredient), tannins, polyphenols and resins. Hop products are used in mild nervous stress conditions, as well as to facilitate going to sleep. In order to enhance the therapeutic effects, hops are often combined with other materials of similar effect lemon balm, Passiflora, and valerian. Another indication includes reducing hot flushes in menopausal women, thanks to the estrogenic effect of hops. Hops have been used in cosmetics for a long time, for hair care and strengthening, as well as for relaxing baths.
Peppermint Mentha piperita L. belongs to the Lamiaceae mint family. It is one of four most frequently cultivated herbal plants in Poland. Herbal raw material includes peppermint leaf Menthaepiperitae folium which contains essential oil (with the main component menthol), flavonoids, bitters and tannins. Peppermint leaf products, apart from flavour values, are used in medicine as a traditional medicinal product in the symptomatic treatment of digestion disorders, such as indigestion and flatulence. Moreover, peppermint leaf presents cholagogic and anticonvulsive action, as well as antiemetic action in motion sickness or during pregnancy. Mint may be safely used in children below the age of 4.
Hawthorn inflorescence Crataegi folium cum flore is rich in flavonoids (mainly including hyperoside, vitexin and quercetin), polyphenols, catechins and small amounts of procyanidins. Hawthorn inflorescence products may be used to alleviate symptoms of temporary cardiac action disruption symptoms with the nervous origin, e.g. heart palpitation, after excluding a severe condition by a physician. They may be also used to reduce mild symptoms accompanying mental stress and to facilitate sleeping. Hawthorn fruit Crataegifructus presents composition similar to the inflorescence, yet with different component proportion. Procyanidins and catechins form the majority of the fruit, with a significantly smaller amount of flavonoids. Also, raw material contains vitamins A and C, as well as sorbitol. Hawthorn fruit demonstrates action similar to the inflorescence and additionally provides a diuretic and anti-inflammatory effect. It may be used to produce preserves, jams and liqueurs. Hawthorn fruit is a pharmacopeial raw material (FP X 04/2013:1220).
