Heating is carried out in two steps, either simultaneously with extrusion or separately. Usually the lubricant must be removed first by heating in a temperature range of 100-300°C(212-572°F). A sintering step is then performed to melt the resin above its melting point of approximately 342°(648°F) and produce a non-porous solid PTFE resin.
