Kelly Valve/Drill Pipe Safety Valve is a full opening valve that provides positive pressure control of the fluids in the drill string. These valves can be used as a drill pipe safety valve or upper kelly valve to control blowout pressures, or as a lower kelly valve to prevent loss of drilling fluid when the kelly is disconnected.
Product Features
The valve seals in both directions with metal to metal seals. Available in 10,000 psi working pressure as standard, 15,000 psi working pressure is available in certain sizes upon request. The valve uses a hexagon socket on the operating stem and has positive stops in the open and closed positions.

Description: Kelly Cock valve is an effective manually operated ball type valve for the drill stem. It located within the drill string that allow for free-passage of drilling fluid without pressure loss and are specifically designed for effective control of blow outs and/or mud loss control. The kelly valve is divided into upper kelly cock valve and lower kelly cock valve. The upper kelly cock is connected between lower end of swivel and upper end of kelly; the lower kelly valve is connected between lower end of kelly saver sub. The kelly valve can be opened on or closed off by only turning the special operating wrench at 90° according to indicating direction. During drilling operation, both upper and lower Kelly cocks should be connected to prevent accident during drilling operation.
Kelly Valve also named Kelly Cock/Drill Pipe Safety Valve allowing free passage of drilling fluid without pressure loss. The valve can be used as a dill pipe safety valve or upper Kelly valve to control blowout pressures, or as a lower Kelly Valve to prevent loss of drilling fluid when the Kelly is disconnected. It has a pressure rating of 5,000psi or 10,000psi or 15,000psi.
BACK PRESSURE VALVE (INSIDE BOP/ GRAY VALVE) is a heavy-duty drop check valve that is positioned in the drill string to control formation pressure during kicks. It controls the backflow through the inside of the drill pipe itself, preventing damage to the swivel, drilling hose, standpipe and circulation equipment. During normal circulation of drilling fluids down the drill pipe, the valve remains open to permit the flow through it. A conical plug, or dart, minimizes the erosive action of the drilling fluid on the valve seat and assures a long lasting seal between the valve dart and valve seat.When any backflow occurs, the valve closes automatically to contain it, protecting the drilling equipment as well as controlling the kick that could otherwise lead to a blowout. Ball Type Full Opening Safety Valve is designed to be stabbed into the top joint of drill pipe or tubing at the rig floor and closed quickly in case a well kicks. After weight material is added to the mud, the Kelly can be reconnected, the safety valve opened, and circulation initiated. Like the Kelly valve, the Safety Valve is full opening. The ball-type design permits the valve to be compact, easy to handle, and yet have great strength. Standard test pressure is 10,000 pounds, but higher pressure ratings are available.
