The horizontal spiral accumulator is used on medium and large pipes and tube mill line, installed between the shearwelder and the forming mill, which accumulates a large amount of strip in a reasonable amount of space to give enough time for the shearwelder to cut and join both ends of the two successive coils for continuous mill operation. JH series automatic shearwelders, covering a range from 40 to 2000 mm wide and 0.6 to 22.0 mm thick metal strip, provide a low cost method to join coil ends together in a minimum cycle time for continuous mill operation. In this process, the trailing end of the leading coil passing through the accumulator and the leading end of the next coil from uncoiler are cut & welded parallel by shear and welder together. These actions are controlled automatically by PLC controller.
