Coconut Oil (CNO) is extracted from fresh meat of the coconut fruit (Coco nucifera). It starts from collecting of well-matured coconuts. Taking the meat, and then producing fresh coconut milk from them. This coconut milk is cooked on medium heat to separate oil and the milk. From this process, the crude coconut oil with yellowish-brown pigment is obtained. Furthermore, the coconut oil is collected, heated and mixed with bleaching clay to remove impurities and any color pigment in the coconut oil after being left for days. After that, coconut oil will be filtered from the sediment and ready to use. As for cooking oil, shortening, nutritional supplement, personal care, and cosmetics, soap making ingredients, and biofuel.
Coconut oil has a unique fatty acid composition, its content more than 65% medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs). Otherwise, saturated fats in animal fats and other vegetable oil are mostly long-chain fatty acids (LCFAs). MCFAs go directly to the liver and burn as energy instead of being stored in the body as fat. The longer chain of fatty acids the slower it will be disgested and absorbed in the body, and high potential to be converted into fat.
