Rice bran is a byproduct of the rice milling process , and it contains various antioxidants that impart beneficial effects on human health. A major rice bran fraction contains 12%â??13% oil and . This fraction contains tocotrienols (a form of vitamin E), gamma-oryzanol and beta-sitosterol; all these constituents may contribute to the lowering of the plasma levels of the various parameters of the lipid profile. Rice bran also contains a high level of dietary fibres (beta-glucan, pectin and gum).

Rice bran is a mixture of substances, including protein, fat, ash, and crude fiber. In many cases, bran contains tiny fractions of rice hull, which increases the ash content of bran. Bran composition is largely dependent on the milling process.
Rice Bran Wax is derived from extraction and de-waxing of rice bran oil that is produced by rice bran powder. Rice bran wax has two types: crude brown extract wax and refined pale-yellow bleached wax in both lump and flakes form. Its output almost is 4000 MT annually.

In the Rice Bran oil extracting process, oil is removed from the rice bran, resulting in de-oiled rice bran (defatted rice bran). DORB is widely used in the manufacture of cattle feed, poultry feed, fish feed, as fuel for boilers. It can be used for feeding animals with colic problems, since the fibre content act as a medicine. DORB can also be used as growth promoters for plants.
