Mullite bricks have high refractoriness, up to more than 1790 C, and have good thermal shock resistance. There are two types: sintered mullite bricks and fused mullite bricks. The crystallization of fused mullite is larger than that of sintered mullite, and the thermal shock resistance is better than that of sintered products.

The operating temperature is below 1350C. Thermal insulation refractories are characterized by high porosity, generally 40%-85%; Low bulk density and low dry 1.5g/cm3: low thermal conductivity, generally less than 1.0W (m.K), it acts as the thermal insulation material of industrial kiln, can reduce the heat dissipation loss of the furnace, save energy, and can reduce the quality of the equipment under heat, the mechanical strength, wear resistance and slag erosion resistance of the thermal insulation refractory material is poor, and it is not suitable for the load-bearing structure of the kiln and direct contact with slag, charge, molten metal and other parts
