There are two basic principles of compression in air compressors. One of these is the principle of positive displacement. There are a lot of compressor types that use this method, screw compressors being the most popular.
Operating Principles
As the name suggests, rotary screw compressors use rotary movements to compress the air. Within the compressor, there is a set of male and female rotors. They will be designed differently so that, when turned in unison, air will become trapped between them. The male rotor has convex lobes and the female rotor has concave cavities; in this way, they can mesh together without touching to achieve compression. Additionally, the male rotor will have slightly less lobes than the female, meaning it will rotate more quickly, effectively driving the female rotor.
Unlike piston compressors which use the same principle of compression, the screw element is not equipped with valves. As such, it can work at a high shaft speed and there are no mechanical or volumetric losses to create imbalance. This means that screw technology can combine a large flow rate with a compact, space-saving design.

A flame arrester (also spelled arrestor), deflagration arrester, or flame trap is a device that stops fuel combustion by extinguishing the flame.
A flame arrester (also called a deflagration arrester) functions by absorbing the heat from a flame front traveling at sub-sonic velocities, thus dropping the burning gas/air mixture below its auto-ignition temperature: consequently, the flame cannot survive. The heat is absorbed through channels (passages) designed into an element. These channels are chosen and measured as the MESG (Maximum Experimental Safe Gap) of the gas for a particular installation. These passages can be regular, like crimped metal ribbon or wire mesh or a sheet metal plate with punched holes, or irregular, such as those in random packing.
Principle
Flame arresters are passive devices with no moving parts. They prevent the propagation of flame from the exposed side of the unit to the protected side by the use of metal matrix creating a torturous path called a flame cell or element. All detonation flame arresters operate on the same principle: removing heat from the flame as it attempts to travel through narrow passages with walls of metal or other heat-conductive material, but unlike flame arresters, detonation flame arresters must be built to withstand extreme pressures that travel at supersonic velocities, 1,500 psi (10 MPa) at 2500 m/s is not uncommon with a group D Gas.

Design Features & Benefits
The spiral plate heat exchanger is made by rolling two long metal plates around a center core to form two concentric spiral flow passages, one for each fluid. The plate edges are welded shut so that each fluid stays within its own passage and there is no flow bypassing or intermixing. Channel plate width and spacing (gap between plates) are optimized for the specified duty, maximum heat transfer, and ease of access. The plate gap is maintained by welded spacer studs although some designs do not require them.
Due to its inherent circular design and large surface area to volume ratio, the spiral heat exchanger offers unique advantages over other types of heat exchangers like the shell and tube.

For flue gases with SOx and/or sooty, particulate material
Conventional heat exchangers suffer from cold spot and SOx condensation corrosion due to cold spots. Also, sooty flue gases offer challenges with respect to cleaning and maintenance in conventional exchangers.
HPHE operates at isothermal conditions and hence does not suffer from cold spot formation. Flue gases can be cooled close to the condensation temperature allowing higher heat recovery. Automated or manual in-situ cleaning of HPHE makes it an ideal exchanger for sooty flue gases.
This study focuses on a boiler producing 6 t/h saturated steam at 10 bars. Two fuel cases have been considered for this study, Briquettes and Natural Gas.

The flue gases will contain a high amount of particulate/soot. The evaporator section of the HPHE for this case has non finned smooth heat pipes and is fitted with an Ultra-Sonic soot blower.

Metal tube Rotameters are variable area flowmeters for measuring volumetric flow rates of liquids and Gases.
The construction includes a tapered stainless-steel tube.
A float with a magnet embedded in it, moves inside a tapered tube.
The float is magnetically coupled with an indicating pointer assembly.
The float position inside the tube is result of balancing of buoyancy and gravitational force. As flow tube is tapered from inside, gap is created between inside wall of tapered tube and the outer diameter of float and fluid flow passes through it. As the float moves vertically up and down inside the tube, the magnetic coupling moves the indicating pointer assembly which is indicates the flow rate.
An analog electrical output of 4-20 mA which is proportional to fluid flow rate can be offered in Metal tube Rotameter.
A Hall effect sensor senses the position of pair of magnets mounted on shaft assembly.
As the analog pointer rotates the output of the Hall effect sensor varies.

Aluminium fins are formed from a bimetallic tube consisting of a base tube and an aluminium muff tube. The fins are formed on a cold rolling process from the wall thickness of the aluminium muff tube. Extruded fin gives very good corrosion protection to the base tube, as the base tube is not visible to the atmosphere inbetween the fins.

To prevent damage to a steam turbine, steam boiler, and other equipment due to scaling and corrosion, on-line steam and water analysis of critical parameters such as pH, Conductivity, Dissolved Oxygen, Silica, Sodium, Hydrazine and Phosphate, etc is a must. Steam can be as hot as 560�°C. Pressures can be as high as 250 bar. To keep the power plant up and running with minimum erosion and corrosion of the steam turbine, steam boiler, and condenser, we have developed a fully integrated Steam and Water Analysis System (SWAS) that provides exact, precise measurements on all these critical parameters. Samples are at high temperature & pressure. Sample conditioning is required to bring down the temperature & pressure at the desired level.
