Welded Tufflex
The aperture shapes of Tufflex Screen are similar to woven wire, square or rectangular, and the construction varies with either fully or partially welded. The aperture range is 1.5mm to 45mm, with a wire rope diameter range from 1.5mm to 12mm, with custom-made rectangular slots as fine as 0.7mm wide.
The poly sheets can be welded on for hot spot impact protection or enhanced abrasion protection along the hooks.
The installation of Tufflex is the same as any cross-tension screen. The hooked edges of the Tufflex allow for fitment into existing tension set-ups without any structural modifications. Centre hold-down holes are easily accommodated.
Tufflex as light, easy to handle and depending on the application possesses a longer wear life than higher tensile woven wire.
The brightly coloured material is lightweight and smooth, which makes it much easier to handle when delivering, storing, installing or removing.
Partially Welded Tufflex
The Tufflex screens, particularly those that are only partially welded and which give off a secondary vibration effect, have the capacity to self-clean, providing the site with the capacity to run all year round. The Tufflex screening range is available with either square or rectangular apertures of varying sizes. For example, in some quarry plants in Japan, a 14 aperture screen is used as the bottom deck for their No. 5 spec (20mm to 13mm) or the top deck for the No. 6 spec. The Tufflex specification is an 8mm rope on top and a 6mm rope from hook to hook, a combination not available in traditional woven wire.
Long-slotted apertures, ie 8 x 340mm, are used in some side-tensioned equipment where flexibility of the screening surface is needed. This type of aperture, while possible to weave in wire, would not have the mechanical stability for a vibrating application, whereas Tufflex screens were developed with this in mind. These larger configurations can also be used as an alternative to harp/piano screens.

Tufflex is polyurethane coated stainless steel wire rope screen with the same open area as woven wire and huge advantages over traditional screens.
The Tufflex screen is made up of two types of ropes welded together. The rope running from hook to hook is a wire rope with a thick polyurethane covering. This rope, with the wire, allows the hooked edge screen to be tensioned like other hooked edge screens, with no modifications to machinery required. The same maintenance procedures of checking the screen tension applies to Tufflex screens. The other rope is made up of a fine synthetic cord, also with thick polyurethane covering, and runs parallel to the hooked edge. For side-tensioned set-ups, this rope acts like rider bars for larger stones to slide down the deck, channelling smaller ones closer to the apertures. This increased stratification improves screening efficiency. With the end-tensioned screens, this rope can be used on top, running in a cross-flow orientation, or positioned underneath the rope with the wire.
Tufflex is a polyurethane-coated screen media that can be substituted for traditional woven wire screens with minimal adjustment to the screen deck. Available in several combinations of both rope and wire diameter and aperture size, Tufflex offers additional customisation options via partially or fully welded screen cloths.
