The definition of thermal spraying technology in the national standard GB/T18719-2002 "Thermal spraying terminology, classification": The Tungsten Carbide Coating uses a heat source to heat the spray material to a dissolved or semi-dissolved state, and spray deposited at a certain speed to after pretreatment of substrate surface coating method. Thermal spraying technology is to create a special working surface on the surface of ordinary materials, it can achieve: a variety of functions such as anti-corrosion, wear-resisting, anti-friction, high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, heat insulation, insulation, electrical conduction, anti-microwave radiation, etc, through this technology, the goal of saving materials and saving energy is achieved. We call this special work surface a coating, and the working method for making this coating is called thermal spraying. Thermal spray technology is one of the important components of surface process technology, which accounts for about one-third of surface engineering technology.

Characteristics

Tungsten carbide is one of the most important raw materials for cemented carbide. It's a black hexagonal crystal with metallic luster, chemical stability, hardness and diamond similarity, and it's also a good conductor of electricity and heat. In tungsten carbide, carbon atoms are intercalated into the gap of the tungsten metal lattice without destroying the crystal lattice of the original metal, thereby forming a gap solid solution, and thus the tungsten carbide is also called an interstitial compound (or an intercalation compound). Tungsten carbide is suitable for machining at high temperatures-- it can make cutting tools, structural materials for kiln, jet engines, gas turbines, nozzles, etc.
The hardness of cobalt-based carbonized tungsten alloy powder or nickel-based carbonized tungsten alloy powder and chromium-based carbonized tungsten alloy powder sprayed by HVOF tungsten carbide coating can reach 850 degrees of high temperature of HV1200. Therefore, the valve parts are resistant to abrasive, corrosion, high temperature and oxidation. The process exceeds the processes of manual surfacing, chrome plating, carburizing, quenching and tempering, etc., so that the production efficiency can be increased by more than 2 times, the production cost can be reduced by more than 50%, and the service life can be extended by several tens of times.
