Ningxia Pure Goji Biology Technology Co.,Ltd Goji berries are grown in remote valleys in China. Plants bloom from April to October. Harvest of the mature berries depends on the weather of the cultivation area from June through October.
When the berries are mature and red enough they are harvested by hand. After the harvest, the berries are washed and dried. Drying happens as quickly as possible with low temperatures to assure maximum nutritive value and to avoid decay.
2) Composition
The most important active components of this fruit are Lycium Barbarum Polysaccharides (LBP).
Ultimately, quality of the berries is determined by how full, red, and sweet they are.
3) Properties
Dried Goji berries have a sweet and slightly raw taste that compares to the taste of raisins.
Larger size berries in general have a sweeter taste compared to the smaller berries.
The main active ingredients of Goji berries are Lycium Barbarum Polysaccharides (LBP). Even though the amount of polysaccharides in the berries is rarely analyzed, the level is usually somewhere between 1.0-2.5%.
Dried Goji berries have a somewhat hygroscopic nature, their texture softens when exposed to air.
