Mongra Saffron comes from the portion of the Crocus Sativus flower which is deep crimson-red colour stigmas which are enriched with the essential nutrients that gives you all the health benefits. Mongra is the purest and the most expensive form of Saffron. Kashmiri Mongra Saffron is better than Saffron of other countries notably Afghani, Irani and Spanish Saffron. The reasons of its superiority are: â?? -It is dark red in color making it highly aromatic in nature. -It has less floral waste. -It has high flavouring capabilities. -It has powerful coloring quality. -It is made from the broken stigmas of the flower. Our Mongra Saffron is of Grade A1++ having long thread and no Color, Flavor or Preservatives are added to it. Hence no original essence is lost. Kashmiri Mongra saffron is preferred for its deep red color, strong flavor, warm aroma and aristocratic appearance. It is harvested, naturally dried, packed and brought straight to you, allowing us to provide you fresh and high quality saffron. And by eliminating the middle men, we have reduced the number of hands that would have touched your saffron and decreased the cost which is incurred by buyer which takes us to our motto i.e Quality should not come at a heavy price.
Description : Saffron has a subtly earthy & grassy flavor & aroma, yet sweet, similar to floral & honey. No spice is more special than saffron. With an unmistakable scent and flavor, saffron straddles sweet and savory effortlessly, and it bestows a striking golden hue on every dish it graces. A few strands of saffron will transform a long list of dishes, adding a mysterious allure to everything from risottos and milk puddings to rich curries and fish stews. Crocus sativus L., otherwise known as saffron, is one of the most expensive spices in the world. As a rule of thumb, the deeper the color of saffron threads, the better the quality. Deep red with orange tips is considered to be the best. Real saffron threads are fine and evenly sized, with a thin yellow tendril on one end and what looks like a flute on the other side. The color of saffron threads is a deep red. The highest quality saffron threads have the most minimal yellow stem and the highest amount of crocin, one of saffron's key essential oils.

The saffron exported by the company is organically cultivated in the higher reaches of kashmir, the only saffron producing area in india. Kashmir has historically produced the best quality saffron in the world because of its fields are surrounded by snow capped himalayan mountains. Kashmir is the best place for saffron cultivation because it has plenty of fresh water streams, cool dry air and calcareous soil which are ideal to grow saffron. The saffron plant produces by division of tubers. Each saffron field has to be replanted every four years. Harvesting of saffron is difficult and time consuming. The picking of the saffron flower has to start early morning before the rays of the sun touch the petals. The flowers have to be hand-picked and the saffron strands have to be separated the very same day. As many as 150, 000 to 200, 000 flowers are required to get one kg of saffron strands.A cultivator can manage to get a maximum of only 80 gms of saffron a day. Saffron flowers bloom only once a year and have to be harvested within two weeks of their blooming. Fields where saffron is cultivated cannot be used to grow anything else. This justifies the high market price for saffron. The best saffron comes from the current crop of the year and is known as fresh saffron. The saffron packets our company exports always mention the year of cultivation and date of packaging. Kashmir saffron that our company exports is of the highest quality and its distinctive features are its deep red colour and strong aroma. The red colour comes from the strands of the saffron flower which we do not mix with other parts of the flower as is done in lower grade saffron. If the uncut flower parts are mixed with saffron strands they make the saffron yellow. Therefore high grade saffron is judged by its deep red colour.
