Ferrosilicon� is an alloy of iron and silicon that is made by reducing silica in the presence of iron, and which plays an essential role in steelmaking.
Silicon iron, also known as ferrosilicon, is a ferroalloy composed of iron and silicon, with a silicon content ranging from 15% to 90%. It is commonly used as a deoxidizer in steelmaking and as a reducing agent in ferroalloy production and the chemical industry. In the steelmaking industry, approximately 3-5 kg of 75% ferrosilicon is consumed to produce one ton of steel. Ferrosilicon can also be used as an alloying element additive, which is widely used in low alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel, and electrical silicon steel.
Ferrosilicon is also used in the production of cast iron, as it helps to control the initial content of silicon in the melt, which is important for the microstructure and properties of the final product. Ferrosilicon cast magnesium is an alloy that contains magnesium and is used as a nodulizer in the production of ductile iron. It has a big mechanical strength, and the effect of deoxidization and desulfurization is strong. Modifiers are added to molten metal to change its properties, and ferrosilicon is one of the most commonly used modifiers in the production of cast iron.
