Okitsu Satsuma variety of groups in Turkey in recent years and has started to grow especially in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Fruits are quite large and flat. It is seedless, easily peeled and a sugary type of mandarin. It is a durable type and it is 3-5 weeks earlier than Owar. Satsuma Owari grown in Turkey belongs to many groups.
The main varieties of mandarin production in Turkey is most commonly made for export. It is produced especially in the Aegean region. The peel is yellow-orange in color and slightly rough during the harvest period; its thickness is 3.37 mm. After the ripening period, it becomes easier to separate the shell from the meat.
