VHM - modular expansion joints accommodate to longitudinal movement from160mm upwards. The expansion joints are connected to the bridge deck through the anchoring reinforced system. Rubber seal serve as the drainage trough and prevent the system from dust and debris.

Together with the upper plate (2) above it, this accommodates longitudinal and/or transverse sliding movements of the superstructure, if required. To reduce sliding resistance to a minimum, the lower surface of the top plate features a polished stainless steel sheet.
In the case of bearings which should allow movement along one axis only, the direction of movement is controlled by guiding bars (3). In the case of fixed bearings, the top plate does not have a stainless steel sheet.

VHB pot bearings are comprised of 4 main parts: top plate, piston, pot plate and elastomeric pad. The elastomeric pad is placed inside of pot plate, under the pressure of the load, the elastomeric pad experiences the temporary deformation inside the pot plate volume, it is capable of withstanding the forces and allows the movement as well as rotation along the horizontal axis.
Piston and pot plate work as the connecting parts between the structures. Besides, the plus guiding part can be designed to limit or allow the movements as required from the structures.

VHR joints made by VinhHung Investment and Production Co., Ltd (Vinh Hung IP) is the steel strip-seal joint comprising of two steel rails with anchor bars connected to embedded bars in the pier cap of the headwall of the abutment, elastomeric strip serves as the trough for drainage and debris, nosing materials: non-shrinkage mortar or concrete with minimum compressive strength of 40MPa.
