This is an aqueous, harmless nano-coating. It is silicone.

Defender
Defender is a coating that sheets rain water off coated glass surfaces. Defender also prevents snow, ice, bug splatter, tree sap, road tar and other items from sticking to a treated surface for easy removal. Each applicator covers 45 square of surface area, nearly twice as much as other coatings. Defender lasts a year, over twice as long as similar products on the market and nearly 100 times longer than some retail available products
