Ceylon Cinnamon oil is produced from the bark and the leaf of the cinnamon tree. This process is known as steam distillation. Cinnamon bark oil carries a perfume-like aroma and is reddish-brown. In contrast, cinnamon leaf oil has a spicy and musky aroma. It is lighter in colour and brownish-yellow.
Product Description - Cinnamon leaf oil is obtained by steam distillation of leaves from Ceylon cinnamon plant. Oil is lighter in colour and mostly happens to be brownish-yellow. Euginol is the main chemical ingredient in cinnamon leaf oil. It carries a musky and spicy aroma along with a light-yellow tinge that differentiates it from the red-brown colour of the cinnamon bark oil.
Application of cinnamon leaf oil mixed with a carrier oil is used to relieve muscle aches. A maximum dilution of 0.6% is recommended for topical applications. Diluted cinnamon leaf oil is also a popular insect repellent.
