True passionflower Passiflora incarnata L. belongs to the Passifloraceae family. It is a decorative and medicinal plant. Passionflower herb Passifloraeherba constitutes the herbal raw material which contains flavonoids (e.g. vitexin and hyperoside), coumarin essential oil. Passionflower herb products are used traditionally in order to alleviate the symptoms of mental stress and facilitate falling asleep. It is also said that passionflower has a role in therapies for the treatment of alcohol, nicotine and drug addiction.
Lemon balm Melissa officinalis L. belongs to the Lamiaceaemint family. It is one of the oldest and most commonly known medicinal plants. It is cultivated in Poland on a large scale. Lemon balm leaf Melissae folium is the herbal raw material. It contains essential oil (e.g. with citral which provides the plant with characteristic lemon scent), phenolic acid, including rosmarinic, caffeine and hydroxycinnamic acid, flavonoids and bitters. Active substances in the lemon balm provide a relaxing effect in mild conditions of nervous stress and sleep disorders. Moreover, they alleviate the symptoms of gastrointestinal disorders, including flatulence and nausea. It is recommended to combine lemon balm with other materials with similar action in order to increase their strength, such as common hop or valerian.
Hibiscus offered by BART is a native powder, which gives intensive cherry red colour. Depending on the dosage/application, it can be bright or dark cherry red. The product is ORGANIC. It is resistant to short-term high-temperature processing. The best pH spectrum for this colour is between 2.5 to 5.0. There are many of the applications where the hibiscus might be a good colour solution. Additionally, his native form allows to use it in pharmaceutical/nutritional solutions and rise the quality value of the final product.
Butcher's broom (Ruscus aculeatus L.) rhizome dry extract containing 5% saponins Butcher's broom - Ruscusaculeatus L. - belongs to the Ruscaceae family. The butchers broom rhizome - Rusciaculeatirhizoma - is a herbal raw material, rich in steroid saponins (ruscin, ruscogenin, ruscoside), and also: flavonoids, phytosterols, triterpenes, coumarins, essential oil. Butcher's-broom products are used as a traditional medicinal agent alleviating the symptoms of discomfort and sensation of heaviness in legs, related to small venous circulation disorders, as well as itching and burning related to haemorrhoids. In cosmetics, butcher's broom is recommended for the vascular complexion, one prone to allergies, as well as acne complexion. Butcher's-broom rhizome is a pharmacopeial raw material (FP X 01/2011:1847) and has EMA community monograph (EMA/HMPC/261938/2007).
Chamomile Matricaria chamomilla L. (Matricariarecutita L.) belongs to the Asteraceae aster family. It is one of four herbal plants with the highest cultivation area in Poland. The medicinal raw material includes chamomile flower Matricariaeflos, commonly called as chamomile anthodium. It contains an essential oil (with chamazulene), coumarins, flavonoids, mucilage and carotenoids. European Medicines Agency (EMA) lists as many as 5 confirmed traditional uses for chamomile flower products. It is effective in treatment of mild gastrointestinal problems, such as flatulence and mild convulsion; in alleviation of cold symptoms; in treatment of mild ulcers (open ulcerations) and inflammations of the oral cavity and the pharynx; in treatment of mild dermal inflammations (sunburns), and superficial dermal wounds, as well as small ulcers (furuncles), as well as addition to treatment of skin irritation, and the area around the anus and the genitals, provided that physician would exclude severe conditions. Chamomile flower may be used by children, beginning from 6th month of age, both internally, as well as externally, e.g. in case of nappy rash. Moreover, chamomile is valued in cosmetics, e.g. thanks to anti-inflammatory, softening and hair-lightening properties.
Linden trees belong to the Liliaceae family. In Poland, they are commonly present all over the country. The linden flower Tiliaeflos is obtained for medicinal uses from two species: small-leaved lime Tiliacordata and largeleaf linden Tiliaplatyphyllos. Linden trees are one of the most important honey-yielding plants. What is interesting, they do not blossom before the 20th year after planting. Linden flower Tiliaeflos containing mostly mucilage, flavonoids, tannins and polyphenols is the herbal material. Linden flower products are used as a traditional medicinal agent alleviating the symptoms of cold, bronchi irritation, and dry cough. Moreover, linden flower is recommended for relaxation in conditions of hyperactivity and mental stress. It may be used in children below the age of 4.
Horsetail Equisetum arvense L. belongs to the Equisetaceaehorsetail family. In Poland, it is commonly found over the entire country, and it is also cultivated for medicinal purposes. Horsetail herb Equisetiherba is the herbal raw material which first of all contains large amounts of dissolved SiO2 silica, and additionally: flavonoids (quercetin and kaempferol glycosides), as well as other mineral components (potassium, calcium, iron, manganese and magnesium salts). Horsetail herb products are traditionally used in case of slight urinary tract disturbances, in order to increase urine production to flush it, and also in the treatment of superficial wounds. It is also common and efficient to use horsetail in order to improve the condition of skin, hair and nails.

Derived from turmeric rhizome (Curcuma longa), also known as curcumin, is grown in South America and South-East Asia. BART`s curcumin is a dispersion of a very fine powder, which creates a uniform suspension for the human eye. That allows for applying the product both: in the oil and water suspension. Goldenrod herb products are traditionally used to flush the urinary tract in mild inflammations of the urinary bladder, and with preventive effect, with regard to urolithiasis. Hawthorn inflorescence Crataegi folium cum flore is rich in flavonoids (mainly including hyperoside, vitexin and quercetin), polyphenols, catechins and small amounts of procyanidins. Hawthorn inflorescence products may be used to alleviate symptoms of temporary cardiac action disruption symptoms with the nervous origin, e.g. heart palpitation, after excluding a severe condition by a physician. They may be also used to reduce mild symptoms accompanying mental stress and to facilitate sleeping. Hawthorn fruit Crataegifructus presents composition similar to the inflorescence, yet with different component proportion. Procyanidins and catechins form the majority of the fruit, with a significantly smaller amount of flavonoids. In addition, raw material contains vitamins A and C, as well as sorbitol. Hawthorn fruit demonstrates action similar to the inflorescence and additionally provides a diuretic and anti-inflammatory effect. It may be used to produce preserves, jams and liqueurs. Hop products are used in mild nervous stress conditions, as well as to facilitate going to sleep. Another indication includes reducing hot flushes in menopausal women, thanks to the estrogenic effect of hops. Hops have been used in cosmetics for a long time, for hair care and strengthening, as well as for relaxing baths.
Nettle Urtica dioica L. belongs to the Urticaceae family, it is commonly present over entire Poland. The herb of nettle is rich in mineral components mainly silica, calcium, iron, flavonoids, organic acids (e.g. formic, acetic acid) and a large number of vitamins (A, B2, B5, C, E and K). The raw material presents traditional use as a diuretic in urinary tract inflammations, in dermal and rheumatic conditions (e.g. gout), as well as urolithiasis. In cosmetics, the herb of nettle is used to strengthen damaged and greasy hair, as well as to wash acne complexion.
Willowherb Epilobiumparviflorum Schreb. belongs to the Oenotheraceae willowherb family, it is commonly found in Poland. The herb of willowherb Epilobii herba is the medicinal raw material, containing terpenes (ursolic acid), phytosterols, tannins, flavonoids (quercitrin, quercetin), phenolic acids. Willowherb products from the herb are traditionally used in benign prostatic hypertrophy in order to alleviate the symptoms from the lower urinary system, such as difficulty urinating or frequent need to urinate. The herb of willowherb should be used after a physician would exclude severe conditions.

Peppermint leaf products, apart from flavour values, are used in medicine as a traditional medicinal product in the symptomatic treatment of digestion disorders, such as indigestion and flatulence. Moreover, peppermint leaf presents cholagogic and anticonvulsive action, as well as antiemetic action in motion sickness or during pregnancy. Mint may be safely used in children below the age of 4.
