Carbon Black is broadly classified into two categories viz. Hard Black (Tread Black) and Soft Black (Carcass Black). Hard Black is generally used in applications demanding high abrasion resistance while Soft Black is used for applications demanding high modulus.
Characteristic: good abrasion resistance and crack resistance. Its stress at definite elongation is lower.
Application: enhanced carbon black; tire tread, high quality industrial rubber products and high load conveyor belt.
Carbon black n330
Characteristic: good abrasion resistance and middling lag.
Application: tire belted layer; tire side; outer layer of roller; industrial rubber products; car tire tread.
Carbon black n550
Characteristic; it boasts the best reinforcing performance among the semi-reinforcing varieties, excellent extruding performance as well as low resilient rate.
Application: tire body and inner tire compound; tube; extruding bar, seal and mould rubber product.
Carbon black n660
Characteristic: it features lower reinforcing ability, smaller structure, higher lips expansion and greater fill amount.
Application: tire body and inner tire compound; normal mould and extruding application; monolayer moisture proof product.

Properties: it is fine-grained or powder with colour of pure black. It mainly contains carbon, but also contains a small amount of hydrogen, oxygen, sulfur, ash, tar and water. It is insoluble in water or ethanol.
Application: It is used for making high, middle and low grade ink, paint, printing, dyeing, rubber reinforcing agent, filler plastic products and also used for rendering, anti-ultraviolet light or conductive productions.

Quality specification:
At the customerÆs end the paste is fed in the upper part of the electrode it softens and melts forming the shape of the electrode casting. Flow ability of carbon paste is essential for proper operation of electrode. It is important that the paste flows at a reasonable temperature and fills the casting of the electrode, maintaining a consistent mixture of components. The paste then gets baked to a solid mass as it moves down and is capable of passing the required current to the furnace charge. The plasticity of paste , the measure of its flow ability is controlled in the mixer by adjusting the binder content or percentage of coke fines. The lower baked part of the electrode is the final electrode product. The physical properties of this paste are of vital importance to ensure proper electrode operation without breakages.
