- Safawi dates are medium-sized cylindrical dates. They have a dark black cherry color with hints of brown. The flesh is soft and chewy with a sweet flavor.
- Safawi dates are grown in Saudi Arabia in the region of Madinah and botanically known as Phoenix dactylifera. There are three classifications of dates; dry, semi-dry and soft, Safawi dates are of the semi-dry type. The Safawi palm tree is prized for productivity, making Safawi dates more commercially available than many other date varieties. Dates have been eaten for centuries for their medicinal properties. It is even believed that eating Safawi dates on an empty stomach will kill stomach worms.
- Mabroom dates are deliciously sweet and sticky, with light red-bronze skin and a lingering toffee-like taste on the palate. They have a smooth and pleasant flavour but are much firmer than other date varieties. Some may even find them quite hard to chew, like a candy.

- With a thick outer-skin and deep brown colour, it is easy to identify with its large elongated shape and pointed end. Plump, moist and luscious, it has a distinctive caramel taste with hints of vanilla flavour.
- Their exterior has a wrinkled appearance. This variety of date is known as a soft date. Other varieties have a drier texture. Medjool dates have a sweet, caramel-like flavor with a hint of cinnamon and honey mingled in.
- Native to Saudi Arabia, Segai dates have a unique multi-hued appearance.
- Elongated shaped with the base broader than the tip, the Segai features a light beige coloured rim with a saffron to dark orange body. The rim is firm and crunchy with a flavour profile that is reminiscent of warm brown sugar, the base is juicy, soft and mildly sweet.
- Originating in Egypt, the Khidri date is the most renowned Bateel variety. This date is large with a cylindrical and elongated shape, commonly amber to dark brown in colour with wrinkled flaky skin. It is delightfully soft and chewy with a sweet raisin-like flavour and caramel aftertaste.
- Khudri dates are a uniform dark brown color, not too wrinkly (dates can range from smooth to as wrinkly as a prune depending on the variety). The skin of these dates flake a little. Taste: moderately sweet, nice â??dateâ?? flavour, chewy but not dry.
- Often known as the Royal Date the Sokari variety stays true to its roots for the Arabic translation of sugar
- Available in both soft and hard varieties, this cone shaped date with prominent creases in yellow to dark gold skin is complemented by a mildly sugary flesh. When presented in its hard variety, the Sokari features crystallised sugars and offers a crisp, caramel flavour.
