Inconel 600 is a nickel-chromium alloy with good oxidation resistance at higher temperatures, with good resistance in carburizing and chloride containing environments. Alloy 600 is a nickel-chromium alloy designed for use from cryogenic to elevated temperatures in the range of 1093. The high nickel content of the alloy enables it to retain considerable resistance under reducing conditions and makes it resistant to corrosion by a number of organic and inorganic compounds. The nickel content gives it excellent resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking and also provides excellent resistance to alkaline solutions. Its chromium content gives the alloy resistance to sulfur compounds and various oxidizing environments. The chromium content of the alloy makes it superior to commercially pure nickel under oxidizing conditions. In strong oxidizing solutions like hot, concentrated nitric acid, 600 has poor resistance. Alloy 600 is relatively un-attacked by the majority of neutral and alkaline salt solutions and is used in some caustic environments. The alloy resists steam and mixtures of steam, air and carbon dioxide. Alloy 600 is non-magnetic, has excellent mechanical properties and a combination of high strength and good workability and is readily weldable. Inconel 600 exhibits cold forming characteristics normally associated with chromium-nickel stainless steels. Typical corrosion applications include titanium dioxide production (chloride route), perchlorethylene syntheses, vinyl chloride monomer (VCM), and magnesium chloride. Alloy 600 is used in chemical and food processing, heat treating, phenol condensers, soap manufacture, vegetable and fatty acid vessels and many more.

Inconel 600 is a nickelbase alloy with excellent carburization, and good oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures.
The alloy is widely used in the heat treating industry.
600 alloy has useful resistance to dry Cl2 and HCl gases at moderately elevated temperatures.
Alloy 600 is not suggested for use at red heat when sulfur is present due to elevated nickel quantities.
Grades 200 and 201 nickel are normally preferred for handling concentrated, high temperature caustic.
However, when sulfur compounds are present as well, or for ammonium hydroxide service,
600 alloy is suggested. 600 alloy is subject to stress corrosion cracking in hot, concentrated caustic alkalies.
To avoid stress corrosion cracking, the 600 alloy fabrication should be fully stress relieved prior to use.
A minimum treatment of 1650°F for 1 hour is suggested, but 1800-1850°F for 1 hour preferred.

Application
1.Nickel foam plate is a sound-absorbing material with excellent performance, which has a high sound absorption coefficient at high frequencies; the sound absorption performance at low frequencies can be improved through the design of the sound-absorbing structure.
2.Battery electrode material
Nickel foam plate is the most common material used for battery electrodes, particularly for NiMH batteries. These rechargeable batteries are frequently found in hybrid cars, laptop computers, cell phones, electric scooters, and bicycles.
3. Fuel cell
Foamed nickel can be used as an electrocatalyst for molten carbonate fuel cells, which typically operate at temperatures between 550 and 700 �° C. For proton exchange membrane production cells (PEMFC), electrode relay feeders for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), and electrode materials for electrolysis (as in water electrolytic settings), nickel foam plate can be utilized. Additionally, more surface area can be employed to produce syngas and hydrogen for fuel cells.
4. Other applications
Magnetic flux conductors of magnetic particles in a fluid can be treated using nickel foam plate as a filter material. Applications to heat exchange medium and hydrogen storage media are among the further uses.
