Description
The Trusted TMR 24V dc digital output module interfaces to 40 field output devices. Outputs are arranged in five groups of eight outputs. All outputs in a group share a common power source and return. Fault tolerance is achieved through Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) within the same module for each of the 40 output channels.
The module provides on-board sequence of events (SOE) reporting with a resolution of 1ms. The event is the actual sensing of the field device loop current.
Each triplicated section (slice) of the module, receives output data from the Trusted TMR processor and sends its data to an internal safety layer hardware voter. Each slice uses the voted data to control the outputs. Every output channel consists of a six-element voted array. The output switch array provides fault tolerant, uninterrupted control under an output switch failure condition. Output switching and fault diagnostics comply with the demanding requirements of IEC-61508 SIL-3 for First fault - Fault tolerant, and Second fault Fail-safe outputs.
When a module fault is detected, the Trusted TMR processor will flag the unhealthy condition, indicating the need to replace the module. Control continues until a replacement (healthy) module is available. Replacement modules can be located in a standby slot next to the module or in a designated SmartSlot with a temporary connection to the same Trusted termination assembly.
Each output is user configurable to perform line monitoring of the connected field devices to detect field wiring and load failures. Automatic over-current protection is inherent in every output circuit which eliminates the need for fuses.
Modules may be placed in any I/O module slot in a Trusted processor chassis or expander chassis. Once the I/O module configuration is set, mechanical keying is available on all I/O modules to prevent inserting a module into an incorrect slot.
Configuration of the module is carried out using the Trusted Toolset running on an engineering workstation. Once configured and loaded into the Trusted controller, replacement modules are online educated by the TMR processor.

Description
The Trusted TMR 24 / 48V dc Digital Output module interfaces to 40 field devices. Triplicated diagnostic tests are performed throughout the module including measurements for current, and voltage on each portion of the voted output channel. Tests are also performed for stuck on and stuck off failures. Fault tolerance is achieved through a Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) architecture within the module for each of the 40 output channels.
Automatic line-monitoring of the field device is provided. This feature enables the module to detect both open and short circuit failures in field wiring and load devices.
The module provides on-board Sequence of Events (SOE) reporting with a resolution of 1ms. An output change of state triggers an SOE entry. Output states are automatically determined by voltage and current measurements on board the module.

Description
The Trusted TMR analogue input module interfaces to 40 single-ended field input devices. A wide input range and programmable thresholds allow the module to be used in most voltage or current configurations. Comprehensive diagnostic tests are performed on each input channel, including tests for out of range values and stuck at failures. Fault tolerance is achieved through Triple Modular Redundancy (TMR) within the same module for each of the 40 input channels.
The module can apply a digital filter to each input channel. Individual channels can be configured for high noise immunity (50Hz or 60Hz rejection), low noise immunity (fast response) or pass-through operation (no filtering).
Each input channel has four configurable state thresholds, which may be assigned to SOE reporting. A change of state triggers an SOE entry. The on-board sequence of events (SOE) reporting has a resolution of 1ms.
Each triplicated section of the module, referred to as a slice, conditions and measures each channel independently. Each slice is optically isolated up to 2500V dc. Each slice sends its data to a safety layer hardware voter that presents the information from all three slices to the Trusted TMR processor. When a fault is detected on a slice of the module, the Trusted TMR processor will flag the error, indicating the need to replace the module. The Trusted TMR processor will continue to use the information provided by the remaining two slices until a replacement module is available. Replacement modules can be located in a standby slot next to the module or in a designated SmartSlot with a temporary connection to the same Trusted termination assembly.

PTC thermistors current protector, also called PTC thermistor resettable fuses, protect load against over-current, overload, short circuit. No need for replacement, resume protective function after a short cooling-down time.
Ceramic PTC (positive temperature coefficient) thermistors are used instead of conventional fuses to protect load, such as motors, transformers, or electronic circuit, against overcurrent for circuit protection. PTC thermistor protector not only respond to inadmissibly high currents but also if a preset temperature limit is exceeded. PTC thermistor over-current protector limits the power dissipation of the whole circuit by increasing their resistance and thus reducing the current to a harmless residual value. In contrast to conventional fuses, PTC thermistor resettable fuses do not have to be replaced after elimination of the fault but resume their protective function immediately after a short cooling-down time.

It applies in the over-current overload and short circuit protection of transformers, battery charger, switches, switch power supply, adaptor, meter, instrumentation, apparatus, electronic coils, control panels, air conditioner, automotive electron, etc.
Operating Principle of PTC Thermistor for Overload Over-current Protection
The operating principle is as indicated in the following. When a circuit is in the normal status, the current through PTC is lower than the rated current and PTC thermistor protector is in the normal state with small resistance value, which will not affect the normal operation of the protected circuit. In case of some fault in the circuit and the current is greater than the rated current, the PTC thermistor protector will become hot quickly and present a high resistance state, which sets the circuit relatively "off" to protect the circuit from damage. After the fault is removed, PTC thermistor protector will automatically restore its low resistance state and the circuit will resume normal operation.
Normally, when PTC thermistor is used as an overcurrent protection component, it is preferred to select maximum operating current, maximum operating voltage and proper specifications. Furthermore such factors should be taken into consideration as the dimensions of the components, rated zero-power resistance, operating temperature range, etc.
