The cashew tree is a tropical evergreen tree native to South America in the genus Anacardium that produces the cashew seed and the cashew apple accessory fruit. The tree can grow as tall as 14 meters, but the dwarf cultivars, growing up to 6 m, prove more profitable, with earlier maturity and greater yields.
The cashew seed is commonly considered a snack nut (cashew nut) eaten on its own, used in recipes, or processed into cashew cheese or cashew butter. Like the tree, the nut is often simply called cashew.
Cashew Kernel (or: raw cashew kernels, cashew kernels, cashew kernal) is the name of the raw cashew nuts after going through the processing of cashew nuts. After peeling hard and corrosive shell outside, the cashew kernel is revealed.
Cashew kernels are usually not eaten raw but cooked or roasted. Used in desserts and also some curries, the roasted kernels are usually eaten as a snack.

Cashew is one of the most loved dry fruits that can be consumed as snack and can be used in both, sweet and savoury dishes. This dry fruit can be roasted, flavoured, and broken down into paste. The cashew paste is used in spicy as well as sweet dishes , in order to give a creamy texture to the dish.
Grades of Cashew Kernels
Cashew Kernels are graded into White/Scorched wholes, pieces, splits, butts etc..depending on the shape,size & colour of the kernel. White wholes are :
WW - 180 is the ' King of Cashew ' - They are larger in size and very expensive.
WW - 210, are popularly known as ' Jumbo ' nuts.
WW - 240,it is an attractive grade which is reasonably priced.
WW - 320, are the most popular among cashew kernels and highest in terms of availability, worldwide.
WW - 450, are the smallest and cheapest white whole kernels and hence the favorite among low priced whole grades.
Scorched wholes are also available in the same grades as above but they are little darker in colour.
However , the grade or size of the cashew does not affect its taste and health benefits.
Packing of Cashew Kernels
The cashews are packed in Flexi packs or tin packs ; which are then vaccumised and infused with Carbon di oxide and Nitrogen in appropriate ratio to ensure that no infestation and to keep the freshness of the cashews intact.
Two Flexi packs of 25 lbs (11.34 Kgs) Nett are inserted into a carton to make a total of 50 Lbs (22.68 Kgs) Nett; 700 such cartons make a full container load. This is now the most preferred packing by the buyers.
Tin packing can also be used in place of Flexi packs if required by the customer.
In such case,Two Tins of 25 lbs (11.34 Kgs) Nett are inserted into a carton to make a total of 50 Lbs (22.68 Kgs) Nett; 700 such cartons make a full container load.
On the demand of some customers; we also pack two Flexi packs or two Tins of 10 Kg in each carton for a total of 20 Kg's per carton; 750 such cartons make a full container load.
