The purpose of screening is to separate contaminants such as shives in mechanical pulp,and stickies,plastics ,sand ,metal pieces,and flakes in recycled fiber. This method employs a screening device and the separation is based on size difference between fibers and contaminants. However,depending on their flexibility and /or geometry,not all of the contaminants that are larger in size than fiber can be captured by the screen.
Screening plates of various slit widths such as 0.10mm,0.15mm, 0.20mm,and 0.25mm have been used in separating contaminants.

There are many small holes distributed on the screen plate, and the vapor passes through the small holes from bottom to top, transfers heat and mass through the liquid layer on the tray, and then rises. 3. The liquid flows through the tray according to a certain route, and the liquid is held by the vapor with a stable flow rate, and flows through the overflow hopper to the non-porous plate (liquid receiving tray) of the next tray. 4. The thickness of the liquid layer is determined by the height of the inlet baffle and outlet baffle on the tray.
