The rotary evaporator or "rotovap" is an expensive piece of apparatus that needs to be used with great care.
If you follow the instructions carefully, it is the fastest, most efficient and most environmentally friendly way of removing a volatile solvent from a non-volatile sample. It is standard equipment in a modern chemistry laboratory.
The rotovap works by increasing the rate of evaporation of the solvent by:
(1) reducing the pressure to lower the solvent boiling point,
(2) rotating the sample to increase the effective surface area
(3) heating the solution.
Rotary evaporators are distillation units that incorporate an efficient condenser with a rotary flask system. As the flask containing the solvent is rotated it continually transfers a thin layer of liquid over the entire inner surface. This gives a very large surface area for evaporation that is effected by heating from the accessory water or oil bath.

1, quick and easy lifting mechanism:
Re201d, re301 and re501 rotary evaporators are water tank lifting. Turning the handwheel on the oil/water bath drives the bath to lift and go down. Re52 series is the motor thread lifting, that is, turning the handwheel on the screw stem will drive the rotating flask, rotating motor, condenser and collecting flask to lift or go down at the same time.

3, high evaporation rate vertical condensation system
The condenser adopts two structures. One is the dual pipeline convection principle and is used for evaporating organic solvents. The other is single pipe container with interlayer that could hold cooling water, ice and drikold. It is vertical type to decrease volume and is used for evaporating organic solvents.
4, heating tank
Stainless steel heating tube provides heat source. The temperature range will be rt~99 ¡æ with water. The water tank is cylindrical and made of high quality stainless steel. So it is corrosion resistance and durable. The tanks are available for 2-20liter rotating flask heated. Moreover, the tank can be moved according the rotating flask size.
5, vacuum sealing
Ptfe evaporating pipe, good sealing and heat-resisting. Joint part is sealed fluorine rubber mat which brings good performance.
6, automatic temperature control digital display
Temperature digital display and control by pt100 sensor. When the pre-selected temperature is reached the temperature you setted, the controller automatically will turn off the heater supply, when it is lower than the pre-selected temperature, controller will switch on automatically to realize constant temperature.
7, rotating flask and collection flask
The flasks are made of gg-17 high borosilicate glass which is blowed by hand. Their intensity, concentricity, glossiness, and surface finish are better than rough flasks.
Circulating water vacuum pump can pump into the reactor sorts of liquids and gases. The reflux or distillation is possible under different temperature state.
The single layer glass reactor has water/oil heating bath or heating mantle itself. Water/oil bath temperature is digital display, which can meet constant temperature state, fast temp. Rising, accurate controllers.1-50l is circular and more than 50l is cylinder. After heating we can add the cooling coil in the tank to cool the material in short time.

The vacuum evaporator is made by Italian Ecoteck in year 2003 and operation was stopped in early 2009 and it is in very good operational condition. This unit is made for concentrate acidic liquid wastes and therefore all liquid touching parts are made of acid proof steel ( SS 2353) or PVC. The evaporation capacity of the unit is 5000 liters / day. The unit is a complete working unit and it includes evaporator, boiler, heat pump, centrifugal pump, water-air cooler, steam ejector, control unit and all other necessary equipment to complete the unit.
Operation principle:
Steam rises from the boiler through a drop dispenser to the cooling unit where it condensates. The condensate drops with the gravity down to vacuum system. In-build heat pump heats up the cooling media and simultaneously cools down the condensate. Water – air cooler cools down the extra heat from the process. Necessary vacuum is generated with a centrifugal pump and a steam ejector. Condensate rejection takes place in accordance with prescheduled frequency.
