Resin cast current transformers are available for metering and protection application. These current transformers are mainly fabricated according to client’s specification. Ct coils are encapsulated in cast resin (polyester / epoxy). Secondary terminals are provided with either screws or studs. The main insulation between primary and secondary and earth is obtained by this epoxy resin. These transformers are of compact design with high mechanical and electrical properties. These are non-hygroscopic and hence give very good insulation properties even in given humid conditions.

The hv windings, coaxial to the column of the core, are obtained using electrolytic aluminum or copper strips insulated in f class, impregnated to a vacuum system with oven-dried in class f, a high level of cementation which provides the coils a very good isolation and mechanical seal. The lv windings are generally made from electrolytic aluminum or copper foils having class f inter-turn pre-impregnated film insulated and then oven dried. Precautions The current of standard CT and tested CT must be the same in CT calibration. Follow the given wiring diagram strictly. Test whether the load box is accurate or not before calibrating the transformer. Forbid secondary winding opening during the calibration. Select demagnetization before calibration.The wiring diagram is shown in figure 5. Short out the secondary winding before cutting off the power when the demagnetization is finished. Principle wiring diagram of CT with large current generator is similar to above diagram. They are the same except the output winding of large current generator and primary winding of transformer are the same one.
