Aeron standalone GPS is a ready to integrate product with configurable output. It can be used for GPS clock synchronization, position indication and as a navigation device. In applications such as server time synchronization, train time / platform / station time synchronization, real-time clock, ARN-SGPS is an ideal choice. It can also be used as a personal navigation device using a PC or a laptop.
The ARN-SGPS is available with or without enclosure as GPS engine board. The unit comes with a cable to integrate it directly with PC via serial port. It is highly configurable to give out time, position, heading, velocity or all the NMEA sentences. The user can choose the type of output required to best satisfy the application. With all these features, ARN-SGPS is still a really affordable product.
Traditionally, for public areas like railway stations and bus-stands, a master slave configuration for clocks has been used. In these obsolete systems, the master clock is closely monitored by staff for its accuracy and the slave clocks are periodically synchronized with the master clock. The traditional master-slave configuration requires a wired communication network which has its own installation costs and maintenance cost, making the total capital cost and maintenance cost of the system much higher. With the fall in cost of GPS hardware, GPS clocks nearly same as traditional clocks but have no network and/ or maintenance requirements. The clocks come with a RTC with battery back up which take care of any power outages and ensure a 24X7 accurate operation. GPS synchronized clock system offers accurate time to all clocks in the system. The GPS clock synchronization system consists of a master clock and multiple slave clocks. The master clock communicates with all the salve clocks via wired/wireless medium in the system to provide them with an accurate time source. The objective of the GPS synchronized clock system is to make sure that all clocks in the system display the same time. Regardless of which part of the building you are in, the time shown by the clocks will be uniform and accurate. GPS synchronized clock system is a cost-effective design to synchronize the clock to accurate time with respect to universal time coordinates. In GPS synchronized clock system, the master clock receives time from either an NTP server or GPS receiver, then the time is distributed to all slave clocks in the system and ensuring that all clocks stay synchronized and do not drift from their accurate time. GPS clocks continue to work during power outages, adjusting to re-acquire the precise GPS time once power is restored. In the case of non-availability of the GPS signal, the slave clocks have an inbuilt RTC ( Real-Time Clock) to continue showing the accurate time.GPS synchronized clock automatically adjusts for Daylight Saving Time ( DST ).
