Mica Blocks

Block Mica is knife-dressed mica with a minimum thickness of 7 mils (0. 18 mm). Block Mica is available in sizes up to 12 to 14 (30 to 35 cm) square. Block Mica larger than this is rare and even it was available it would be far too costly for most applications. Block Mica is available in sheets with an average thickness between 7 mils & 30 mils (0. 1 8 mm & 075 mm) Block Mica is supplied in both natural (random) and calibrated thickness as required by the customer. After splitting into a specified thickness the mica is then cut and punched to the required size and shape to meet the requirements, typically, of an electrical application.

Knife or scissor dressed sheet mica with irregular shape and a minimum thickness of 0.18 mm (0.007 inch or 7 mils) are called Mica Blocks. It is available in sheets with both random (natural) and calibrated thickness as per demand. After undergoing size and quality grading, Mica Blocks are exported. Mica is stable when exposed to electricity, light, moisture, and extreme temperatures. It has superior electrical properties as an insulator and as a dielectric, and can support an electrostatic field while dissipating minimal energy in the form of heat; it can be split very thin (0.025 to 0.125 millimeters or thinner) while maintaining its electrical properties, has a high dielectric breakdown, is thermally stable to 500 °C (932 °F). 40 kg
