Rattan cane webbing usually refers to rattan webbing made from Chair-cane (rattan peel\bark). Rattan webbing made from rattan core is called reed webbing. These are elegant looking furniture materials that enhance quality. Cane webbing is made from rattan strong enough to support the weight of a sitting person and flexible enough to bend around the sharp corner of wooden frames. They are simple to use and uniform for the production of high-value furniture in any quantity. Production of cane webbing involved a lot of labor, attention skill and craftsmanship. Every production steps require careful hand selection. First quality cane webbing is usually semi-bleached for light uniform color. Fully bleached paperwhite color cane webbing is usually made from rattan that has many color variations, and these usually cost less. Unbleached natural cane webbing is stronger more durable, but darker in color.

This material is pre-woven and can be used in a number of applications, including some Commercial Projects, but is more commonly used in chair seats and door panels.
Rattan Webbing is generally used for DIY re-caning chair seats and backs. You can apply shellac, stain or paint to finish, however leaving the Rattan Webbing in its natural state is best. The webbing however will darken slightly with age and sunlight.
