This product is widely used in the animal feeds industry and is commonly consumed by animals such as hogs and cattle since it contains a high percentage of crude protein and crude fiber. It has a sweet coconut aroma and is brown in color. Palm Kernel Expeller (PKE) / Palm Kernel Cake (PKC) is a by-product of the palm oil extraction process from the fruit of the palm. PKE/PKC is a quality stock feed containing high levels of crude protein and medium energy levels. It is completely safe to feed as a supplement for most classes of livestock.
PKC provides approximately 14 to 18% of crude protein (CP), 12 to 20% crude fibre (CF), 3 to 9% ether extract (EE), and different amounts of various minerals. Furthermore, PKC has a high phosphorus to calcium ratio, which is important for healthy bone and teeth formation and biochemical cycles.
PKC plays a significant role in utilization has effectively reduced the cost of milk production as a result of replace expensive conventional feedstuffs, such as maize, cotton seed cake and soybean meal with a more economical and locally available one that also meets the nutrient requirements of livestock.
