Gambier is a kind of dried sap derived from the extract of the squeezed leaves and twigs of the plant (Uncaria gambier Roxb.). In Indonesia, gambier is commonly used for menyirih (chewing the betel nut) for local people. Furthermore, it is also important to uses as a tanning agent and a natural dye. West-Sumatra is the center of gambier production, moreover gambier also called as a specific plants of West Sumatra.
