High carbon silicon is a new type of alloy used in converters, and can also be called silicon-carbon alloy. It can replace ferrosilicon, silicon carbide, recarburizer, reduce the amount of deoxidizer, used in converter smelting deoxidation alloying process, the effect is stable, steel chemical composition, mechanical properties and internal control quality are better than traditional processes.
(1) Ferrosilicon is an indispensable deoxidizer in the steelmaking industry. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation.
(2) Used as an inoculant and spheroidizing agent in the cast iron industry. In the production of nodular cast iron, 75 ferrosilicon is an important inoculant (helping to precipitate graphite) and nodulizer.
(3) Used as a reducing agent in the production of ferroalloys. Not only the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen is great, but the carbon content of high-silicon ferrosilicon is very low.
Therefore, high-silicon ferrosilicon (or silicon alloy) is a commonly used reducing agent in the production of low-carbon iron alloys in the ferroalloy industry.
