Here are 5 essential tips for buying a die-cutting machine.
1. Consider your needs
First, you need to know not only what you're prepared to build, but also how you're willing to go about it. There are two main types of die cutting: manual and electronic/digital. Do you want the machine to manually or physically put in the material, then the die, then turn the lever to cut? Or, are you a computer whiz and want to hook up your computer to a desktop or laptop and cut from there?
Note:Some manual die cutters have electronic options. These are electric (or have an electric accessory option). Technically, they are manual - which means you put the material and die into the machine and cut it yourself. However, instead of turning a joystick, you simply press a button and the machine does the work for you automatically. This is perfect if you suffer from arthritis or have mobility issues. However, please note that a manual die cutter with electronic/electronic functions is not the same as an electronic digital die cutter that is connected to a computer.
2. Consider the size of the project
Do you plan to create large projects, small projects, weekly or just for special occasions?
Since machines vary in type and size, these are all important questions about which machine might be right for you!
3. Know what you need to cut
Do you just want to cut the pattern with the print on it, or do you plan to sew a unique blanket? The next thing to consider is the material you intend to cut. If you only intend to cut paper, you can use a manual or electronic standard die-cutting machine.
However, if you are cutting soft materials such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, PVC, ETFE, PTFE, HYPALON, Oxford cloth, leather, etc., automatic high speed (no sampling, wire pulling, die cutting). In the case of SC high speed large format static cutting system, it is necessary to purchase a large heavy duty machine.
Tip:Make sure you can read product reviews, descriptions and watch videos (if you can) so you know exactly what each machine can and can't do!
4. Check the die-cutting comparison table
Find out the differences between machines. Just like a washing machine, a toaster, and a bicycle, die-cutting machines may all serve the same purpose, but they have different functions and features.
As you read it, carefully consider all the things you've considered in previous tips - what do you plan to do? What materials do you like to use most? and how much space you have in your studio.
5. Read the comments
Last but not least, read the reviews. This may seem effortless, but it is crucial. The information you get from other artisans like you is priceless. It's important to read five and one star reviews so you know exactly what people like about the machine and what they might say about it. Most product pages have reviews at the bottom of the page.
What is digital cutting?
The technology allows precise cutting through a computer-programmed path without the need for a die. Using this method, you get all the benefits of traditional die cutting, but with laser, you can cut exactly as needed and make creases and nicks.
Large amounts of material can be cut using this process. You can use digital cutting for smaller projects, but it does work for large-format printing and work, such as prominent signage and similar graphics devices.
Today, those who use digital cutting often use innovative machines such as THE PK Intelligent automatic cutting system, we have to adopt automatic vacuum suckers and automatic lifting and feeding platforms in the IECHO, PK Automatic intelligent cutting system. Equipped with a variety of tools for fast and accurate cutting, half cutting, indentation and marking. Suitable for sign, printing, packaging industry proofing and small batch customized production.
