The latest products relates to a chip-type glass-encapsulated negative temperature coefficient thermistor. It has a glass shell, a thermistor chip and two metal electrodes. The metal electrode is a SMT type, and thermistor chip is fixed in a glass shell. Two metal electrodes are installed at both ends of the glass shell. The metal electrodes at both ends are respectively connected to the electrodes on both sides of the resistance chip through a conductive body integrated with the metal electrode, and the conductive body and the resistance chip are encapsulated in a glass case at a high temperature. The utility model is electrically connected with the outside world through a metal electrode, and the installation space is smaller, the installation is more convenient, the lead-free bending is not easy to damage the product when the installation.
low cost glass encapsulated thermistors are manufactured using super stable NTC chips which are hermetically sealed in a glass diode package. See more.

What are PTC thermistors made of?
Most PTC thermistors are made from doped polycrystalline ceramic (containing barium titanate (BaTiO3) and other compounds) which have the property that their resistance rises suddenly at a certain critical temperature. Barium titanate is ferroelectric and its dielectric constant varies with temperature.
Characteristic
high precision NTC thermistors
Small size, Fast response
Steady Operating for long time
Good quality of copherence and interchange
Scale production, high ratio of features to cost
This is a property of a Negative Temperature Coefficient resistor (NTC ).
There are also thermistors that have Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC for short) which means as the temperature increases, the resistance increases. However, PTC thermistors have a sort of tipping point and greatly change the resistance at some temperature. This makes the PTC thermistor a little harder to interface with. For this reason, for most low-cost temperature measurement, NTC thermistors are preferred.
For the remainder of the article, you can assume we'll be referring to NTC type thermistors.
Knowing the temperature in a project can a very useful piece of data to have handy. Knowledge of temperature can help regulate room temperature for a comfortable environment, ensure that a 3D printer bed is hot enough for materials like ABS to stick to its surface, prevent engine overheating, and keep food from being burnt.
For this article, we are only concerned with one type of sensor that can measure temperature. This sensor is called a thermistor.
