Water trap comprises of a round tub like container with a central hub onto which the pheromone basket or cage is fitted. While the cage holds the pheromone dispenser, the tub holds water mixed with oil or an insecticide.
Funnel trap, as the name suggests, is a funnel, covered at the top by a canopy that holds the pheromone dispenser basket, with radial openings all around for entry of the moths. A transparent plastic bag is attached to the lower end of the funnel which should be cleaned and replaced occasionally, depending on the insect catch rate.
Palm traps are extremely useful in monitoring & controlling Red palm weevil (Rhincophorus ferrugeneous) and Rhino Beetle (Rhinocerous oryctes) that are a big menace to Coconut, Oil Palm, Date Palm & Arecanut plantations.
Delta trap is usually made of polypropylene flute board or plain PP sheet laminated paper board. The name comes from their shape which is in the form of Delta (Triangle) The triangular shaped opening at both ends provides entry for the insects. An arrangement is provided inside the trap to place a sticky adhesive sheet on the base at the bottom and a hanger at the top to hold the pheromone dispenser.
Sticky Sheet Traps are excellent tools to monitor and control population of flying insects / sucking pests like White Flies, Jassids, Aphids and Thrips.
