Muga silk is a wonderful gift of nature extracted from a species of insect not to be found any where in the world except in the state of Assam in North Eastern region of India. Muga Yarn is obtained from semi domesticated silk worm called aantheraea asamenisis.
Characteristics of Muga Silk : Natural Golden colour
The silk produced is known for its glossy fine texture and durability.
Due to its low porosity the Muga yarn cannot be bleached nor dyed and its natural golden color is retained.
Muga silk can be hand-washed with its luster increasing after every wash.
Very often the silk outlives its owner. The lifespan of Muga fabric is at least 30 years.
