ShellBau lightens the weight of the panels, making them easier to install. The frame is assembled twice as densely, providing additional strength. The same construction is used for same the floor, walls, and roof.
Standart SIP panels: OSB 3 boards are used
ShellBau: Cement particle board or OSB 4 board are used
Cement particle board is thicker, stronger, and more resistant to fire and water. If comparing OSB 3 with OSB 4, OSB 4 is additionally coated, making it more water-resistant. However, cement particle board is more durable than OSB 4.
Standart SIP panels: Wooden battens are used for connections
ShellBau: I joist (I-beams) are used for connections.
I joist (I-beams) are lighter, more reliable, and less prone to deformation compared to wooden battens. Standard SIP homes are typically built 1-2 floors high, but with the ShellBau system, buildings of up to 8 floors can be constructed.
