Filter Press Plates
Filter plates are an important part of a filter press. They hold the filter cloth and separate the liquid from the solids during the filtration process. Different plate styles are compatible with various filter press designs.
When the filter press is closed, each plate seals together to form a mold that holds the filtered solids.

Sludge Dewatering Filter Press
Filter presses are effective in extracting water from sludge. These devices function under feed pressure and can employ either concave or membrane plates to segregate substantial quantities of solids from the sludge. As the wastewater traverses the plates, the discharge mechanism and filter media capture the solid particles. The wastewater slurry persists in flowing into the system until all the water has been expelled. The residual solids consolidate into a dry cake, which is then gathered in a basin for subsequent disposal.
How does a filter press work?
Filling
During the filling phase, the press fills with slurry and distributes it evenly across the filter plates.
Filtration
As the pressure increases, the mixture is pressed against the filter cloth, separating the water from the solids.
Reaching
When the filter chamber is completely filled with filter cake, the cycle ends and can be reset.
Membrane Filter Press
The membrane Filter Press utilizes a modular design similar to that of the chamber filter press. The robust steel filter press frame consists of the following main components: feed frame with filtrate outlet (head unit), hydraulic frame with locking cylinders (pressure unit), crossbeam and side rails on which the individual membrane filter plates (including filter cloth) are mounted. The plate set consists of homogeneous membrane plates (optionally also mixed chamber membrane filter plates) with cut-outs of 15-50 mm to accommodate the puncture-proof filter cake.
Membrane filter presses have a significant impact on the dryness of the solids through the use of membrane technology in the filter plate. This process minimizes the residual moisture value in the filter cake compared to conventional filtration processes. Membrane filter presses have proven their superiority in a variety of applications such as mining, chemical or pharmaceutical.

Filter Press Plants
Filter presses are used in a variety of industries for solid-liquid separation and consist of a series of stacked filter plates or frames, alternating with filter cloths, which when screwed together form a series of chambers. Under pressure, the liquid is forced through the filter cloth, leaving a solid residue or cake on the surface of the cloth. The process efficiently dewater slurries, clarify liquids and recover valuable solids from the process stream. Filter presses are known for handling large quantities of material, high levels of solids recovery and minimal operating costs, making them indispensable tools in mining, chemical processing, food and beverage production, wastewater treatment and many other industrial applications.
Principle of operation of a filter press
The filter press is composed of a sturdy support frame that holds a series of concave plates lined with filter cloth. These plates are tightly compressed together using hydraulic pressure, forming a sealed perimeter and an enclosed cavity between them. A high-pressure slurry pump feeds the slurry into this cavity, enabling the dewatering process. Solid particles are trapped between the plates, while clean filtrate water passes through the filter cloth and exits through ports in the plates. Once the cavity is filled with dewatered solids, the slurry feed pump stops automatically. The hydraulic pressure is then released, allowing the plates to separate individually so the dewatered solid cakes can fall out of the filter press by gravity.
