The giant tiger prawn is a crustacean that is actively reared for food purposes. Initially, the species was first discovered in the year 1798. The females of the species reach a length of 33 cm and their weight is around 200-320 grams. On the other hand, the males have a length of 20-25 cm and their weight can be near to 100-170 grams. The carapace and abdomen of both are banded with red and white stripes. Naturally, the Tiger prawn is found in the Indo pacific region. This goes from the eastern coast of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula to Southeast Asia, the Pacific Ocean, and northern Australia. They can be seen in the Gulf of Mexico too. Their first capturing happened in 1988 when nearly 300 of them were held from the South Eastern shore. Now they can be caught in the waters ranging from Texas to North Carolina. The Tiger prawn can stay in different types of settings but when they grow up you can find them in estuaries and mangroves only. Black tiger prawn variety is said to be nocturnal. In the day they burrow into the substrates and in the night they look out for food. Mating also happens in night and they produce around 8 lakh eggs. PACKING : HOSO, HLSO
