Properties * One of the most popular timbers, Merbau features, excellent durability, has good termite resistance, and resists from rotting. * Merbau's has good workability with glues and finishes well, simple to resaw. It is easy to work with hand tools. The grain is straight to interlocked, or wavy and the texture is fairly coarse, with luster to be variable. * The Merbau tree can grow up to 40 to 60 meters with 0.6-metre trunk diameter, and its average weight is 51 lbs./ft3. * The sapwood is pale yellowish with sharply differentiated from the heartwood, which is yellowish to orange brown when freshly cut, but it matures to darkening to brown or dark red brown upon exposure.
