The name of this strain of microorganisms originates from Bulgaria. The uniqueness of the product lays in the fact that Lactobacillus bulgaricus lives and proliferates only on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. Lactobacillus bulgaricus is the same microorganism that is the reason for the unique taste and medicinal properties of the world known Bulgarian yoghurt. Bulgarian yoghurt was mentioned for the first time in 1664 when the French king Louis XI was cured from incurable for that time stomach disease namely by applying a diet of Bulgarian yoghurt. Products containing Lactobacillus bulgaricus have probiotic properties which suppress “bad”, potentially pathogenic microorganism, and stimulate the development of “good” microorganisms. Thus putrefactive processes in the bowels are suppressed, the immune system is stimulated and ageing processes in organism are retarded. Scientific patents regarding the probiotic properties of Lactobacillus bulgaricus have been appraised to the value of EUR 10 000 000 by a world renowned pharmaceutical concern. Sal Seed Meal is nothing but a by product obtained when Sal seeds are processed for oil. It is generally used for cattle and poultry feed. The Sal seeds have 12-14 % of oil which is extracted for various purposes. The kernels contain 14-20% oil (Sal butter) which is used for cooking, as a cocoa butter replacer for illumination, and for industrial purposes. Although Sal DOC has low protein content (9-10%), it contains high levels of lysine and methionine in its essential amino acid profile and even 50% of the starch content. The starch can be further separated from it to be used in various other industries. The Sal seed extraction also contains 6-10% of tannin which is the reason why, it is not recommended more than 3% for chicks, 10% for laying hens and no more than a compound feed for cattle. The present tannin content can be separated and easily find a use in various leather industries. It is generally grouped amongst the various starch feed because of the high carbohydrate content (70%) which perfectly serve as feed energy. The Sal seed extraction can prove to be quite advantageous in terms of reducing the ruminal degradation of other proteins and thus serve as the essential compound feed for ruminants thereby, increasing the overall biological value at the end.
