Aluminium extrusion profile is formed by extruding a heated aluminum billet through a mold with a desired cross-section through a certain pressure. The formed aluminium extrusion profile is lightweight, strong, corrosion resistant and shaped like a die opening. Usually, the mold is made of hard steel or cemented carbide. There are two general methods of aluminum extrusion profile, direct extrusion (same as forward extrusion) and indirect extrusion (same as reverse extrusion).
1. Great production flexibility. Extrusion molding has great flexibility. Products with different shapes, sizes, specifications and varieties is produced on the identical equipment only by changing the mold, and therefore the operation of replacing the mold is straightforward and convenient, time-consuming and efficient.
2. The technological process is straightforward and also the equipment investment is low. Compared with piercing rolling, pass rolling and other pipe and profile production processes, extrusion molding has the benefits of short process flow, less equipment and fewer investment.
