TDI (CAS No. 26471-62-5) consists of two isomers: toluene-2,4-diisocyanate (2,4-TDI) (CAS No. 584- 84-9) and toluene-2,6-diisocyanate (2,6-TDI) (CAS No. 91- 08-7), which is commercially produced in different ratios. The most common ratio is 80% 2,4-TDI/20% 2,6 TDI. TDI is widely used and accounted for 34% of the global isocyanate market in 2000 Tdi 80/20 is used for Flexible Polyurethane Foam and other other polyurethane applications including elastomers,synthetic leather,coated fabrics,paints and adhesives. It is spray-applied,closed-cell polyurethane foam system with high fire resistance properties.it applies to all kinds of spray-applied thermal insulation engineering,such as building exterior cold rooms,large-scale pipeline,etc.

The hydrogenation of di-nitro toluene is then obtained to produce Toluene Diamine (TDA), which is in turn reacted with phosgene to form TDI. TDI is a clear, pale yellow liquid with a sharp, pungent odor. It is combustible only at high temperatures, but burns to produce toxic gases (cyanides and nitrogen oxides). It is volatile, producing toxic concentrations at room temperature. Main Uses/ Industry : " It is a vital raw material for flexible polyurethane foam, for use in cushions, mattresses, garments, pads and gloves and packaging materials. It is used in polyurethane coatings for automotive refinishing, wood finishes, and high-performance anti-corrosion coatings.
