Ceramics: wollastonite can be used in a variety of ceramic applications including ceramic glazes and bodies, enamels, frits, fluxes and in sanitaryware. This industrial mineral is a source of cao to alkaline glaze formulations to improve the strength of the glaze. Wollastonite also has a low loi (< 1%) which gives minimal gas evolution during firing resulting in a smooth surface with diminished pinholing. Due to its acicular structure, wollastonite improves green strength and reduces crazing and checking especially during rapid heating and cooling. It has a low sintering temperature (approximately 991-1196c) which is comparable to that of most natural frits.

Alumina ceramics is the most mature of the engineering ceramics, offering excellent electrical insulation properties together with high hardness and good wear resistance but relatively low strength and fracture toughness.

High purity alumina ceramics are ideal for environments where resistance to wear and corrosive substances are required.

Alumina ceramic has excellent thermal stability, which means that it is widely used in areas where resistance to high temperatures is essential.

Alumina ceramic is the material of choice for alumina wear parts. The proven wear and heat resistance of alumina wear parts makes them ideal for the manufacture of wear-resistant components.

Alumina has a high melting point, high hardness, although mechanical strength is reduced at temperatures above 1000 C. Due to the relatively large coefficient of thermal expansion, thermal shock resistance is reduced.

Alumina is an electrically insulating material, with a high electrical resistivity, increasing with purity.

Good chemical stability of alumina leads to high corrosion resistance. It is insoluble in water and only slightly soluble in strong acid and alkaline solutions.

Testing has shown that the low chemical solubility of alumina ceramics components makes them highly resistant to chemical corrosion.

This is what makes high purity alumina the material of choice for components in a wide range of industrial applications.

Alumina Ceramics are generally white and the color is derived from either the sintering additives or impurities in the raw materials.

The nepheline syenite can be used in float glass, container glass, fibre glass, opal glass, sheet glass, electrical glass and tableware glass. Nepheline syenite provides necessary additions of alumina and alkali in the glass batch. It has low in silica and contains no free quartz. It also has a favorable ratio of sodium oxide to potassium oxide of 2: 1. Nepheline syenite makes glass batches to have lower viscosity and easier workability compared with potash feldspar. Its high alumina and alkalis content also makes it so suitable for the glass manufacturing.
1. The content of potassium and sodium is high in nepheline syenite, and it can partly replace the soda ash in glass batches.
2. The characteristic of foidal minerals are they will not intergrow with quartz. They can decrease the melting temperature with reaction between nepheline syenite and quartz in glass furnace. The melting temperature would be 40° c lowered than feldspar.
3. The content of al2o3 is high and the content of sio2 is low in nepheline syenite. So it can save the cost of transportation of al2o3.
4. It can decrease the content of fe2o3 in glass.
