Ball Clay: A member of kaolinite family, Ball Clay is renowned for its plasticity and green strength. They consists varying proportions of kaolinite, mica and quartz, with small amounts of organic matter and other minerals, and are commercially values because they increase the workability and strength of various ceramic bodies and have white or near white firing characteristics. It is a kaolinitic clay that commonly consists of 20 - 80% kaolinite, 10 - 25% mica, 6 - 65% quartz as well as organic matter.
