In the previous years, its use and application was not known much to the people; though the production made was few tons a year. But with the progressing time, bentonite is applicable to many of the industries type and therefore its production has now jumped to some million tons a year. One may either find a sodium or calcium compound in bentonite that can be widely used by industries. Bentonite can be called as a clay in general as it actually a dirt but with wider applications in industries and useful to common people. The clay is mined and powdered to form a light brown clay which is actually obtained as a result of volcanic eruption. One will mainly find two different kinds of clay: Industrial and food grade.
