Traditional Basmati is a generic phrase used for the classic varieties of Basmati which are technically known as 370 & HBC-19. They are still grown and processed but in greatly reduced quantities as new hybrid varieties are replacing them as a result of certain commercial and culinary benefits. However these varieties of Basmati are the most aromatic and selectively used to prepare the most exotic rice delicacies.
