Round or Javanese or white cardamoms are the fruits of the Amomum compactum plant that still has a close relation to the Zingiberaceae family and are mostly produced on Java Island, Indonesia. The main ingredients in Javanese cardamom's essential oil are cineol, terpineol, and borneol which have a distinctive taste and aroma, which is a bit spicy with a fresh citrus-like scent, fragrant, and give a warm sensation. The uses of Javanese cardamoms are mainly for food and beverage flavoring agents, the cosmetic industry, the perfume industry, and pharmaceutical purposes.
