Plastic materials can be categorised according to their capacity to survive combustion using the UL 94 flammability criteria. A plastic material's flammability rating is determined by how it reacts to heat and flame under controlled laboratory settings. The test findings will provide a good indicator of the material's suitability for a certain application in terms of flammability. The size, shape, and intended purpose of the product, as well as elements in the final application such as ease of ignition, burning rate, flame spread, fuel addition, and intensity of burning, will all affect the thermoplastic's behaviour when exposed to heat and flame.
