Indian hand woven dhurrie rugs have been woven by hand in India for thousands of years and it is a skill that has been passed though families for generations. A dhurrie is a thin flat-woven rug or carpet used traditionally as floor-coverings. Dhurrie is a form of Indian Carpet which uses the non-pile technique of weaving and combines a variety of materials and patterns to create a vibrant throw for the floor. Dhurries are made manually by skilled artisans on traditional horizontal & vertical looms Hand woven flat durries are made on a smaller medium-sized weaving loom. With weft fingers, the weaver picks up a specified number of threads on the wrap and insert the colored yarn that forms the weft, hit it down in the place with the help of a panja or heavy, multipronged metal fork. Attractive and sturdy dhurries are woven on pit-looms or vertical looms using cotton or woolen yarns. Before weaving begins the yarn is dyed in vibrant colours according to the designs which are traditional as well contemporary variations.

-In order for your rugs to retain their appearance & shape for a long time please remove dust & stains regularly. -A lighter colored rug will require cleaning more often that a darker one. -Vacuum your rug once a week & air it once in three months atleast. -Another effective way to clean a rug is to turn it upside down and beat it gently. This removes all the lose yarn &Ã? dirt drops out. Make sure you do this in an open space /outdoors. Please note it is normal for the rug to lose individual fibre when used. These are excess fibers & do not affect the general quality of the rug. You can remove these with a vacuum or a normal broom. There amount of fluff coming out also depends on the level of humidity and it can be higher in places with high humidity. This is not a defect and your carpet will not get damaged no matter how much fluff comes out of it.   -Vacuum your carpet once a week & before / after an event (The vacuum cleaner should not have rotary (brush / teeth). -Frequent vacuuming on a new carpet helps in getting rid of the excess yarn & fluff. -Incase of spills, gently dab out the spill with a cloth and spot clean with a liquid detergent. -For uniform exposure you can opt to rotate your rug during usage. -Incase of a loose thread / yarn do not pull it / tug it. Simply use scissors to cut it. -Folds & Bumps - If your carpet has been delivered in a folded form it is normal for it to show folds. These will go away as you lay the carpet flat on the floor. -Please use a well qualified and equipped cleaner for your handmade carpets.
